Zion National Park 11/4/14 - 11/7/14

Unfortunately we were only able to get into Zion for three nights this trip.  But, we were camped right up next to a creek that was frequented by deer -an added treat.  While here we hiked the Emerald Pools trail (lower, middle and upper trails) and also the Gotto trail.  The upper pools was a bit of a rock scramble to get to and Bob joked how the trail contractor must have run out of funds towards the end.  All the trails provided great views.  Our favorite this trip was probably  the Middle Emerald Pool trail.  We also drove north to the Kolob Canyon Section of the Zion park (about an hour drive), that we had not visited before.  It was beautiful!  This section of the park is at a much higher elevation (7,000-8,700 ft. for Kolob Canyon vs. 4,000 ft. in the main park) and had already received snow for the year.  We drove to the various overlooks within the Kolob section of the park.  Short on time, we hiked a short trail there, the Tiber Creek Overlook Trail.  The rocks in both sections of the park are incredible.  Zion, is for sure a beautiful park to see.
