Zion National Park 11/4/14 - 11/7/14

Unfortunately we were only able to get into Zion for three nights this trip.  But, we were camped right up next to a creek that was frequented by deer -an added treat.  While here we hiked the Emerald Pools trail (lower, middle and upper trails) and also the Gotto trail.  The upper pools was a bit of a rock scramble to get to and Bob joked how the trail contractor must have run out of funds towards the end.  All the trails provided great views.  Our favorite this trip was probably  the Middle Emerald Pool trail.  We also drove north to the Kolob Canyon Section of the Zion park (about an hour drive), that we had not visited before.  It was beautiful!  This section of the park is at a much higher elevation (7,000-8,700 ft. for Kolob Canyon vs. 4,000 ft. in the main park) and had already received snow for the year.  We drove to the various overlooks within the Kolob section of the park.  Short on time, we hiked a short trail there, the Tiber Creek Overlook Trail.  The rocks in both sections of the park are incredible.  Zion, is for sure a beautiful park to see.

Las Vegas and Valley of Fire State Park, NV 10/21/13 - 11/4/14

Las Vegas is always good for great food and entertainment.  Not a place that either of us wants to spend a lot of time in but we do enjoy good food and great entertainment.  While here we went to the Cirque Du Soleil Love (Beatles) and also Carrot Top shows.  Both were very good, but so far KA and Mystere (in that order) are our favorites. We have some favorite restaurants that we always return to (if we can get in).  Bachi Burger is on the list for sure http://www.bachiburger.com/.

From Las Vegas We headed to another favorite of ours, Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada.  The rocks in Valley of Fire State Park are spectacular.  Our campsite was huge and the views from within our rig and outside in our camp chairs were some of the best.  The sunset pictures within were taken from our campsite.

We included a picture of our new (as of May) truck just because with the rocks in the background, it just seemed like a good time to give her the attention she deserves for taking us to such exciting places.

While here Bob biked every morning among these beautiful rocks and the two of us hiked several hikes.  It is amazing how much the rocks change in color, shape and design as you hike throughout the park.  We did two new trails this trip and some of our old favorites.  The highlight of this trip for sure was running up on the Big Horn sheep.  It is a real treat to get to see these beautiful animals in the wild as they normal stay high in the hills out of view and are only seen when they are migrating at lower levels.  Hiking through the slot canyon was a treat also and of course we always enjoy the petroglyphs.

The Grand Canyon 10/16/14 - 10/21/14

The Grand Canyon is one of those places that pictures just do not show the full beauty.  Hopefully these few pictures will wet your appetite to explore.  While here we did a 7 mile hike along the rim trail and also a 3 mile, 1100 foot decent into the canyon.  We saw lots of wildlife there too.  The weather was gorgeous. Enjoy the pictures!
